Thyroid Cancer

Thyroid cancer is a rare type of cancer that affects the thyroid gland, a small gland at the base of the neck.  The most common symptom of thyroid cancer is a painless lump or swelling that develops in your neck.

Patient Information leaflets

The British Thyroid Association guidelines for the diagnosis and the treatment of thyroid cancer have now been published (July 2014) in the journal “Clinical Endocrinology”.  TCSGW were involved in the consultation process and in revising the patient information leaflets that are an accompaniment to the new guidelines.

National Anaplastic Thyroid Cancer Tissue bank. (iNATT)

The main thrust of our fund raising efforts is directed to provide financial help to establish and maintain this tissue bank to enable research into Anaplastic Thyroid Cancer.

The cost of setting up the tissue bank was in the region of £10,500.  The Support Group have pledged to fund the whole project.  The tissue bank is established at the Velindre Cancer Centre Cardiff under the leadership of Dr Laura Moss and will enable researchers from the UK, Europe and the rest of the world to access samples for their research. This is the rarest form of thyroid cancer (only about 0.17 per 100,000).

TCSGW & B decided to research and produce a recipe book to fund the iNATT project.

"Favourite Foods of the Famous ....and not so famous" costs just £5 per copy.

Our very first response was from the legendary Sir Tom Jones - who sent us his best wishes along with his favourite recipe - a true star!

All proceeds from sales of the recipe book go to support the iNATT project.

You've read the rest, now read the best!! Don't miss out on this opportunity!

If you would like copies, please contact us by phone 0845 0092737 and we will take your details and arrange payment.
