The end of November saw 6 representatives form TCSGW en route to Saundersfoot Harbour to present medals to the participants in Captain Cymru’s November Challenge.
The weather was absolutely atrocious but that did not dampen the spirits and generous support of Captain Cymru and his amazing fundraisers.
Captain Cymru (aka Matthew Evans) had organised the November Challenge which ran from Friday 30th October to Saturday 28th November 2015
The Challenge was to raise funds for our group to enable us to continue our work supporting thyroid cancer patients and supporting research into this rare form of cancer.
The Challenge was designed to promote healthier life styles by committing to running / walking a mile a day.
Option 1 was the 30 day 1 mile challenge. designed to get people out into the fresh air and walk a mile a day for thirty days.
Option 2 was the Extra Mile Challenge which was designed to test everyone to see how far they can actually go! Run 1 mile a day then two miles on the second day and so on.
Each day's run could be done over a 24 hour period.
The final day would be on Saturday 28th November and runners would finish up on the Harbour at Saundersfoot, Pembrokeshire.
All runners would be presented with a medal.
Captain Cymru would be presenting a cheque to Mrs Helen Hobrough, Chair of the Group. Other members of the Group will be in attendance to welcome the runners home, present medals and to thank them for their superb efforts in raising funds for TCSGW.
The sight of all of the runners - there were about 150 participants in the November Challenge - was quite overwhelming. All ages took part and emphasised that they had really enjoyed the challenge that they had undertaken.
Captain Cymru’s fundraising events for our group - from his London Marathon participation through to his November challenge culminated in him presenting a cheque for an outstanding £20,000 to our group.
As members we were simply stunned as we never imagined how huge his fundraising for us had become. We express our most sincere thanks to Matthew, his family and friends who have made such a huge difference to the projects and research that we will be able to do.
